High School Wrestling is now in full swing along with a few other high school sports, and a few notable athletes have already hit their stride early into the season.

Eston Composite School's very own Desmond Brummund and Katie Watson participated in a wrestling meet in Swift Current this past weekend, and both had excellent finishes. Brummund competed in his first official meet in his high-school career, and managed to finish 2nd place overall, while Watson managed to win the Bronze Medal Game to claim 3rd place.

Wrestlers from Eston Composite School combined to form a team with wrestlers from Elrose Composite School for this season, and combine for a team of about 25 wrestlers.

Russell Fersch, Head Coach and volunteer, talks about how impressed he was of the wrestlers who competed for the first time this season, and how the focus will be to keep on working towards getting better technique at practices.

"It was the first tournament for some of the new wrestlers. Some of these kids got a wake up call for what wrestling is really all about, and will continue to learn that they still need lots of practice." Fersch said.

The season continues on with tournaments in Moose Jaw, Regionals, Provincials and possibly Nationals for some of the top wrestlers in the area.
