One local girl is proving that good things come in small packages. Eight-year-old Kaybri Rieger from Fiske, Saskatchewan will be travelling south of the border to compete at the North American Trick Riding Championships for Team Canada.

Kaybri has been trick riding since she was just four-years-old and took home second place in her pee-wee division for Team Canada at the North American Championships two years ago in Vegas.

Kaybri’s mom, Janelle, said that she loves the sport and their goal is to keep encouraging her to follow her dreams and to keep it fun. “She meets with her coach once a month and they know what she can work on or what she needs to perfect, we just want to be there to support her, she loves it and that’s whats important.” said Janelle.

She rides her horse Tom everyday and has competing at events in Rimbey, Ab., throughout the year leading up to North Americans. Within her division, she has remained among the top two all year long, “the pee wee division is a tough class and she had some issues with her horse at the beginning but she is right at the top,” said Janelle.

Because of Kaybri’s small stature, she wasn’t able to do certain tricks when she was at North Americans in 2016. She has since gained some inches and now that she is taller, she will be adding three new tricks to her routine this time around, which according to Janelle are not easy and would rate them on the higher end of difficulty, especially at a pee wee level.

The championships are set to be held in Oklahoma at the state fair, September 17th through the 19th.
