The Kindersley Klippers had a special guest before their game against the Estevan Bruins on Wednesday night.

Professional bull-rider Dakota Buttar who is currently ranked 16th in the world in PBR standings was on hand to perform the ceremonial first puck drop between the two teams captains.

The 2018 bull-riding season is in full swing for Buttar, who was born in Kindersley, he told West Central Online that right after the Klippers game he would be back on the road heading to California for the next stop in the tour.

Meanwhile, the Klippers and Bruins battled in a close contest.  Justen Close made 37 saves on a night where the Klippers lead 2-1 (with goals from Curtis Pek and Brody Ryberg) until the final minutes of the game when the Bruins tied the game with a power-play goal.

The Klippers were able to hold off a hungry Bruins team in overtime, once again thanks to some spectacular saves from Close.  At one point making a glove save that could be classified as a save of the season candidate.

In the shootout Kindersley was not so lucky with Estevan's first two shooters scoring and the Klippers being blanked on both shooters.  3-2 was the final score in favour of the Estevan Bruins.

The Kindersley Klippers are back in action on Friday when they take on the Melville Millionaires from West Central Events Centre.  Puck drops at 7:30 PM.
