The Government of Saskatchewan has released a more precise timeline as to when they expect the remaining 12+ age groups to be eligible for vaccinations, as well as some additional information as to when restaurants in Regina can re-open to in-person dining.

Vaccination Timeline

The schedule is subject to vaccine delivery and could be revised if deliveries are delayed.  It applies to all immunization clinics: booked appointments, drive-thru/walk-ins, pharmacies, and mobile clinics.

  • May 8 – Age 32+
  • May 10 – Age 29+
  • May 12 – Age 26+
  • May 14 –Age 23+
  • May 16 –Age 20+
  • May 18 – Age 16+
  • May 20 – Age 12+

The government plans on utilize additional pharmacies as more vaccines begin to make their way into the province.

It should be noted that youth age 12-17 are only approved to receive the Pfizer vaccine, so they will only be eligible to book at locations offering Pfizer. Parents will have to ensure that the clinic they are booking their child at has Pfizer on hand.

Administration of vaccines will also occur in school-based programs, through pharmacies, or SHA clinics before the end of the year. Youth vaccinations will require parental consent. Details on school-based programs will be announced prior to May 20.

"We continue to set aggressive targets to immunize our remaining, eligible population of nearly 270,000 Saskatchewan people," Health Minister Paul Merriman said.  "Our ability to reach our targets is limited only by the amount of vaccine we receive but remember that once you are eligible to receive a vaccine, you are always eligible.  You will have clinic options available and should continue to take the first vaccine that is available to you."

Information on the Saskatchewan Health Authority's scheduled drive-thru and walk-in clinics is available by clicking here.

This schedule only applies to first dose vaccinations, with second doses scheduled to start May 17 for those 85+. Second dose scheduling will be released over the next number of weeks, but it is expected that everyone will be eligible for their second after approximately 13 weeks have passed from their first dose.

Public Health Orders

Starting May 17, all Regina restaurants and licensed establishments will be able to resume in-person dining.  The following guidelines however will be in place;

  • Limited to seat four at a single table
  • For indoor seating if there are impermeable barriers from the chairs where patrons are sitting and those for another table must be placed two metres apart. If there are no impermeable barriers between tables, there must be a three-metre distance between all tables.
  • For outdoor patios and decks, with or without barriers, there must be a two metre separation between patrons at another table.
  • No alcohol sales after 10 p.m. in licensed establishments.
  • Restaurants and licensed establishments must maintain guest/reservation information on all patrons.

No other updates were given to the current Public Health Orders for the rest of the province; however, the government did say this in their press release:

“All other measures remain in place at this time and existing public health orders continue to be in effect for all areas of Saskatchewan outside of the Regina area.  Complete details on the public health orders currently in effect are available at www.saskatchewan.ca/covid19-measures. ”

It is believed that the current Public Health Orders have been extended until May 31, but no official statement has been made by the province at this time.
