The U13 Western Prairie Thunder took the ice last night in Lafleche against the Wood River Ice Cats for Game 1 of the Sask FHL league finals. The Ice Cats were their opponent in the recent provincial final that wrapped up back on Sunday in Kindersley in favour of the Thunder, and the local team stayed hot in winning a 4-1 decision.

Stevie Christiaens scored the games opening goal assisted by Shayla Schmaltz, and then two more goals ended the period with a three score cushion for the Thunder. They would make it 4-0 in the second on a goal by Claire Kosolfski, and then goaltender Kailee Preston's bid for a shutout was ruined late in the game, though the team returned home happy with another strong victory.
