With the first blast of winter here, Director of Transportation and Environment/Deputy Administrator of the Town of Kindersley Kim Vogel said in an interview last winter the Town follows the Snow Clearing Priority Map.

“We do have a snow clearing priority map and we've got five different priority areas. Obviously our first priority is to ensure that the emergency routes are cleared first, so that would be around the hospital to make sure that ambulance can get out as well as fire department and the police. After that we do our main areas, our service roads, Ditson Drive, Railway Ave and then Main Street, we get those clear and then from there we get all of our school zones and the main bus routes in town. Then that kind of enters into the main roads in Rosedale, and then after that we fan out into all the residential areas,”

There is also a free app which can downloaded to their phone, which alerts people when certain things are happening in Kindersley.

“We also have a Voyent app that people can download free onto their phone and then they can put in their area of either their home or their business, and then it'll alert you too, for certain things. And we use that app for everything from snow removal, street cleaning, waste and recycle pickups and then we also use it for emergency events, road closures, things like that. So, it's a really good app if people want it to download that on their phone,” Vogel also said.

Some points to remember from the Town of Kindersley:

  • Please try to take a detour if you see snow clearing machines in the roadway, it makes their job much easier!
  • Remove your vehicle from the street prior to 6:00am the day of plowing to avoid a ticket, tow, or seizure of the vehicle.
  • DO NOT clear your snow onto the street, it will undo all the work we have put in with our crews.
