The Sun West School Division is keeping busy as we move into November. October included Halloween events at school, but not before the Board of Education's annual seminar between October 15-17 and the Boards' regular meeting on October 24.
Before getting into the school business, the latest Sun West update included an update on the Student Leadership team.
"Every year, the Board supports a group of Sun West school student leaders and staff adviors in attending the annual Canadian Student Leadership Conference. Hundreds of students from across Canada attend and this year it was in St. John, New Brunswick."
Pictured below is the Sun West delegation from the recent event, that included students from Kenaston, Davidson, Eston, Kindersley, Rosetown, and Loreburn.

Official school business was discussed during the already mentioned seminar in the middle of October.
"The Board of Education held its annual seminar from October 15-17, where they discussed current, ongoing and long-term trends and issues in education. Presentations were made on: the Sun West Education Plan, Board Policy Review, Enterprise Risk Management, Indigenous Education Responsibility Framework and innovative programming through the Saskatoon Public Schools Foundation. Trustees also worked on strategies to enhance their problem-solving and decision-making capacities."
The regular Board meeting on October 24 included:
- The Board heard the Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment Report, which detailed the ongoing successes of Sun West students.
- Information on initiatives being examined such as Destination Imagination
- Resolutions to the upcoming Saskatchewan School Boards Association Convention were considered.
