The battle for the "A" division championship in the Fertile Valley Baseball League began on Monday night.

Both teams entered the post season with a 9-3 record, with the Stallions taking the tiebreaker due to wins against the Eagles.

Berard field in Kindersley has been home to some great baseball all season long and this game added to that list.

The Eagles took an early 4-0 lead including a massive home run from Scott Olsen.  The Stallions made their way back towards the end of the game, scoring 3 runs before heading into the bottom of the 7th inning down by just one.  Dylan Francis hit a double to tie the game, eventually finding himself at third base.  The game winning play saw Derek Walde come into the game looking to send one to the the outfield.  Instead Walde would make a surprise bunt, sending the ball towards first base, which allowed Francis to make his way to home plate for the walk off win.

It was an exciting first day in the FVBL finals with The Kindersley Stallions defeating the Oyen Eagles in Game # 1 of the best of 3 series 5-4.

Game two of the series is tonight is Oyen with first pitch slated for 7 PM.

If necessary Game 3 will be back in Kindersley on Wednesday.
