Corson Harris started, and Blake Robertson entered in relief to help the Kindersley Stallions secure a tight 5-4 win last night against the Macklin Lakers.

Macklin would go up 2 in the second before Kindersley responded with 3 in the third. Jory Niwa got their scoring started when he crossed the plate after a Kyle Donaldson hit, and both Donaldson and Chad Westman would score in the inning on wild pitches. Jeff Kosolofski and Tyler McKee came together for the tying run in the fourth, and Westman drove in the game winning run as the Stallions held on from there for the win.

The Kindersley Stallions are now 6-3 on the season after last night’s win. That puts them fourth in the NSRBL standings, though all four teams at the top in Wilkie, Standard Hill, and Lloydminister are tied at 6 wins.

The Stallions season started with 4 straight victories before their first real test against Standard Hill, a tough 7-6 extra innings loss on the road. A 10-0 win against Mervin a couple days later would not be enough to heat the horses bats up for their next set against contending teams, as they put up two runs in two games, losing two pitchers duels to Wilkie and Lloydminister respectively.

Standard Hill and Lloydminister are two of the stronger teams in the league so it is no surprise to see them at the top, but Wilkie being in first after a year hiatus is certainly the main story-line. The Stallions will not be in control of their own destiny to end the year with the three teams above them in the standings, the only teams to defeat them so far this year.

Kindersley has a pair of games remaining at home for the regular season, including tomorrow July, 8th against the North Battleford Beavers, and Tuesday, July 13th against the Border City Blue Jays.
