Interestingly enough, snow, rain, and heat are all in this week's forecast.

Hot dry weather from the weekend continues for a couple of days before the mercury starts falling and precipitation that producers are craving hits the area.

After highs of 30 C and 32 C to start the week, a cold front coming Tuesday evening could bring storm activity, according to Environment Canada Meteorologist Chris Stammers.

"First real shot at some thunderstorms for the year. Won't bring a wide-spread precipitation, so it'll be highly scattered."

A low-pressure system later in the week should have more moisture.

"The good news is that it looks like later in the week, starting on Thursday into Friday, there'll be a more substantial low-pressure system that will bring - right now it looks like a fairly-substantial rain changing to unfortunately snow on Friday. And then it'll be a couple cool days behind that system," Stammers said.

Stammers recommends staying hydrated, limiting outdoor activity, and paying attention to pets during the hot stretch, and watching for any weather advisories or warnings throughout.

"It's going to be quite the change behind this system. We're treated to some summer-like warmth, and then possibly back to winter. It's going to be close to zero, so it'll be tough to say whether it'll be rain or snow at this point. That's the story on the prairies in May, unfortunately. A roller coaster of temperatures."
