As the COVID-19 pandemic rages on and with vaccine protocols now firmly established, attendance at SJHL games across the province has dropped this season.
According to data from HockeyDB.com, most team's attendance has dropped to varying degrees compared to the 2019-2020 season.
The Kindersley Klippers are the only team that has seen a slight increase. The Klippers are averaging 578 fans per game this season compared with 517 during the 2019-2020 season.
In Estevan, the Bruins have seen the attendance at Affinity Place drop by almost double.
The Humboldt Broncos are leading the way this year, averaging 786 fans per game, good for first in the league. This is down only slightly from the 2019-2020 season (864). Melfort is second overall with 717 fans per game. This is also down slightly from 2019-2020 numbers (796).
Other teams that have seen dips in attendance include the Flin Flon Bombers, who are averaging 564 fans per game this season compared to 743 in 2019-2020, the Battlefords North Stars (556 compared to 846), the Nipawin Hawks (532 compared to 740), the Weyburn Red Wings (475 compared to 698), the Yorkton Terriers (444 compared to 755, and the Notre Dame Hounds (360 compared to 443).
The La Ronge Ice Wolves have also seen a minor drop (510 compared to 552), as have the Melville Millionaires (481 compared to 572).
