Don't stop if you have read this before, but it was another busy weekend of hockey around west-central Saskatchewan. A few local playoff series progressed, and senior provincial play supplanted any idle time for local teams this weekend.

The Sask Valley Hockey League is the furthest into their postseason. Round 2 began over the weekend as the Dinsmore Dynamos took care of business with a sweep over the Delisle Bruins. That was in the West Division, as the other series currently has Kyle up 1-0 over Eston ahead of Game 2 of the series on Thursday at 8:00 PM.

Over in the East Division, Kenaston has already taken care of business with a sweep over Central Butte, and the Outlook Ice Hawks are down 1-0 to the Davidson Cyclones, with Game 2 of the series set for Wednesday night at 8:00 PM.  

A pair of games were played on Friday in the Sask West Hockey League, as the Kindersley Sr. Klippers claimed a 1-0 lead against the Unity Miners with a road win. Saturday's other game saw Macklin take the series lead with a 3-0 victory over Edam.

The Macklin/Edam series will continue this Friday, following Game 1 of the Biggar/Hafford series set for Thursday at 8:30 PM in Hafford. Once those series are completed, the winners await the #1 seed Wilkie Outlaws and #2 seed Sr. Klippers.

The White Mud Hockey League made sure to complete their first round best-of-three over the weekend. No extra games were needed as Eatonia swept Leader, Shaunavon won a pair over Frontier, and Maple Creek doubled up on Cabri.

The second round will begin Friday with Eatonia on the road facing Gull Lake, and Maple Creek visiting Shaunavon. 

Finally, the Cross Roads Hockey League began their first-ever postseason with a pair of Game 1's on Saturday night. The Dodsland Stars defended home-ice with a 9-2 win over Luseland, and it was the opposite in Kerrobert, as the Kindersley Kodiaks claimed a road-win 3-1 over the hometown Tigers.

The first round continued this Friday with Game 2 between the Tigers and Kodiaks at 8:00 PM, and then any more action in the league won't be until next weekend when Dodsland travels to Luseland for Game 2 of that series.

The Rosetown Redwings were one team in action for provincials this weekend, seeing their Provincial "C" run end with an 8-1 loss to Canora. Also in "C", Biggar and Rosthern are set for a winner-take-all Game 3 on Saturday after playing to a tie this weekend. Looking at the other local teams in action, Wilkie won 13-1 at home over Porcupine Plain, and Kyle beat Grenfell 5-4 as both teams are up in their series.

"A" Provincials are also underway. The Kindersley Sr. Klippers will prepare for their Game 1 against Loreburn on February 11, as team's play through the first round. Find all of the provincial matchups here.
