Monday marked Day 1 of a scheduled three weeks in the trial for Colin Perrault.

Perrault is charged with second-degree murder, due to his part in the death of Logan Ring, who was killed back in November, 2016 at Saskatchewan Landing Provincial Park in a parking lot.

Day 1 saw a jury of 12 and two alternates selected out of over 100 in attendance.  The day also saw the Crown prosecutors call their first witness and present their first evidence to the jury, which was photos of the crime scene and autopsy.

Perrault is the fourth of five people charged in relation to the death of Ring to stand trial:

Rebecca Kuhlman was sentenced to eight years in jail for manslaughter last September.

Todd Donaldson also received an eight-year sentence for manslaughter earlier this year in February.

Tanisha Perrault was sentenced in April of this year, as she entered a guilty plea to accessory after the fact of murder, and received a two-year sentence.  Jolene Epp is still waiting to stand trial.
