A new initiative by SaskPower could become a big benefit for the Jim Pattison Children's Hospital.

The crown corporation is committing a $5 donation to the Saskatoon-based hospital for every customer that switches to paperless billing by the end of March.

"It's convenient for our customers, it's good for the environment, it's just a really good campaign all around for everybody," SaskPower Media Relations Consultant Scott McGregor said. "The children's hospital provides an invaluable service to the province. Anything we can do to help out we're happy to."

Customers looking to make the switch to paperless can do so by visiting saskpower.com/childrenshospital or call SaskPower at 888-757-6937 and to make the switch an email address and a previous billing statement is required.

"With the paperless billing, customers will have access to their bills anytime they need it," he said. "They'll have routine billing reminders... Record keeping is easy when it comes to online billing."

The campaign runs until March 31, 2021, and last year SaskPower invested $1.7 million in initiatives based around education and community.
