The province is preparing for the changes and restructuring of the updated provincial budget for the coming months.

Tomorrow afternoon, Finance Minister Kevin Doherty will present the budget moving forward as the government will be looking to combat the rising provincial deficit. According to a recent social media post from the Premier, there may be some large changes coming our way.

Premier Brad Wall addressed the public through a video on Monday hinting at what may be introduced along with the budget announcement. Moreover, Wall stated how the government have set a goal to balance the books by 2019 after they set their sights to reach the target this year back in 2016.

"You will see two important shifts in our tax system," said Wall, explaining what residents can expect in tomorrow's announcement. "Shifts designed to strengthen the provinces finances while assuring our economy remains strong."

Wall continued by mentioning how there will be a shift away from dependence on resource revenues and other taxes. The Premier has suggested an increase in consumption taxes and a plan to reduce income taxes.
