With the population growing in Saskatchewan, it isn't really a surprise to learn that building permits in the province are continuing on an upward trajectory.

The latest figures show an 8.8% increase from October 2008 to November 2008 on a seasonally adjusted basis.  The almost 9% increase totals $138 million.

Also in a report released on Friday by Stats Canada, statistics show that when November 2007 is compared to the same month in 2008, the seasonally adjusted figure is a 26.6% increase.  That leads the nation.

Saskatchewan also had the highest number when it came to non-residential permits which increased by 59.9% for a seasonally adjusted total of $80 million.

Our provinces numbers were far greater than those of the other Western provinces who all saw decreased in building permits.
