The town of Rosetown elected new councillors in May and June. That's not the only new look in town that you'll notice. The water tower is due to be repainted for a cost of $180,000 as listed in this year's budget.

We caught up with new councillor Art Garrett who said "it's very interesting, and I'm enjoying it." He was a little surprised to learn about how they answer to SUMA. He was excited for the water tower to get a new coat of paint, "we're going back to the Riders colours, so hopefully they start winning!"

The final open seat on council was filled by Jan Coffey-Olsen who won the June 20th by-election. "I've had the one council meeting and a few committee meetings. I'm quite enjoying it, I really like the people that are there." We asked Coffey-Olsen about her main objective, "I really want to make sure we're looking after people. I'd like to keep the town accessible for everyone including lower income and younger families. I can't think of one project that I'm excited about or getting behind. It's all very exciting."

The next Rosetown Town Council meeting is set for Monday August 15th at 7:30pm.
