Rosetown has a Midget boys baseball team for the first time in roughly 15 years. The 18U boys are a small team of 10, consisting of the following players: Tyler Moore, Nic Piermantier, Luc Charpentier, Noah Martens, Marcus Martens, Belg Norval, Hayden Churchman, Eric Robbie, Jon McDonald and Matt McDonald.

While the team’s losses outnumber their wins this season, coaches are impressed with how this athletic group of young men has advanced their skills very quickly this spring.

With no nearby Midget/18U league to enter, and given several players recent return to baseball, coaches opted to ease players back into things. Competition this spring consisted of tournaments in Saskatoon and Macklin, Dinsmore’s annual sports-day, a few exhibition games; and their own home tournament – which they hope to make an annual event.

The team is coached by Dallas McDonald with Steve Piermantier as the assistant coach. Brenda McDonald lends her time and organizational skills as team manager.

July 20 and July 21, The Angels played hosted their home tournament where they came out at 1 win and 2 losses.

The Rosetown Mainline Midget Angels are off to provincials this coming weekend, July 26-28th, in Moosomin. They’ll compete in 18UAA Tier 5 provincials as 1 of 8 teams.

With only 10 players on their squad, coaches have had to rely on pulling spare players from surrounding communities when they’ve been short, but hope to see this squad grow in numbers in spring 2020.
