The Rosetown Curling Club started at the beginning of the month of November. And there is currently a Monday afternoon league with four teams, Tuesday night doubles league with eight teams and Thursday night league with 12 teams.  All of the leagues are open to any combination of genders and ages.

Something new the club is running is the doubles league in shorter periods to encourage curlers who may want to play for six weeks at a time due to other commitments.  The current session ends just before the holiday season and we will offer another six-week session in the new year. Club President Jason Waldner explains how it works.

“We're really seeing a lot of fun and success in the doubles league as well. People are enjoying that because it's only two people per team and it's a shorter game. It has a bit of a different technique and different strategies for that game as well. So, a lot of people are enjoying that, we're just hoping the word of mouth gets out more about the doubles league so that we get a little more interest," Waldner said.

The curling club plans to have a student league on Mondays after school starting in January.

Waldner is hopeful the Rosebud and Rosebowl bonspiels will be able to held once again, and it has been a topic of discussion for the Curling Club.

"We're starting to discuss about Rose Bowl and Rosebud, the two big bonspiels we host in Rosetown in the New Year.  So, we're starting to discuss that and see if we can get the planning going or not so that we can ensure that we host those again. We feel it's important to get that back in and the Town sees a boost as well because we do get several teams coming from other areas of the province," Waldner added.

The Rosetown Curling Club continues to follow all provincial health measures. Their policy is to verify all those who enter the facility are fully vaccinated. The lounge is open and proof of full vaccination is required.  By following these measures, curlers are allowed the option of curling without masks but must wear masks throughout the facility unless they are curling or enjoying a beverage.
