The West Central Track and Field District Championship meet was held this past weekend at the Gordie Howe Track and Field facility in Saskatoon. The weather was great over the weekend, as organizers commented on how it was amazing to see student athletes competing in track and field after 3 years of it not being held.

More than 300 West Central/Sun West athletes competed at this year's districts, with West Central Athletics President Lance Morrison noting almost double that amount competing at the two previous sectional meets held in Davidson and Kindersley leading up to the recent round of competition.

He made sure to thank the volunteers from each of the 19 schools, as well as towards Acting Director Vicky Moore and board member Cathy Morrow for taking on jobs to help this years events come away a success.

The top 2 finishers in each event qualify to the Provincial championships in Regina June 3/4, and those accommodation plans are likely being made as we start the week.
