Another week, another set of coffee parties for local MLA Randy Weekes.

The current MLA for Biggar-Sask Valley has been going around West Central to answer questions on the new constituency of Kindersley-Biggar. This coming after he announced his candidacy for the upcoming seat in a press conference back at the start of the month.

We talked to Weekes to get an update on how things were going, and he shared more on a busy stretch last week that took him through the fog trail to make his meetings.

"Just want to thank all the people who have come out. (Last week) was really just a fog tour, very foggy so I appreciated people braving the inclement weather and coming out to the coffee party."

He appreciated the honest discussions and hearing some concerns, sharing some of the main ones that come up.

"I would say the main concern is the Federal government, and the impact that they are having on Saskatchewan and Western Canada," said Weekes specifically relating to the energy and agriculture sectors we rely on. Another big topic was the Saskatchewan First Act, "People were very receptive to that bill that was introduced, and how we are going to defend Saskatchewan's interests."

During his time in Luseland, Weekes mentioned that some people poured over from an agriculture conference also going on in town.

Weekes wanted to shoutout the Royal George Hotel in Luseland, Sister B's in Macklin, and the Kerrobert Bakery and Coffee Bar for being gracious hosts and providing some great food and drink.
