Statistics Canada released its latest Planting Intentions Report on Wednesday.

The report says prairie farmers, in early June, planned on planting a record 17.7 million acres of canola.

Total wheat and barley acres were expected to decline at that time.

Perhaps the most important part of the report is the warning that estimates may have changed considerably due to the continued inclement weather on the prairies.

Analysts are casting doubt on most of the numbers in the report, noting the survey was done between May 25th and June 3rd, prior to having excessive moisture force many growers to change their planting intentions.
