Our Food Has a Story is the theme for Agriculture Month in Saskatchewan.

During the month of October the Ministry of Agriculture, Ag in the Classroom, Farm and Food Care Saskatchewan and Ag More Than Ever are collaborating with industry to share food stories and talk about modern agriculture.

Provincial Ag Minister Lyle Stewart says Saskatchewan has a great food story to share.

"Nobody can tell our story better than we can. It's a great story. It's an environmental-success story, it's a food safety-success story, it's a nutritional-success story, and we produce food more affordably than any other place on the planet. I encourage all producers to take every opportunity to explain that positive story that we have to people that aren't so familiar with it."

Stewart says it's important that producers and those in the Ag sector speak up and tell their story about how our food is produced.

""We found that if we don't put the truth out there as forcefully and as much as we can, and as well as we can, that that vaccuum will be filled with the naysayers that are telling a story that simply isn't true."

This week has also been declared Animal Health Week and focuses on Safeguarding the five Animal Freedoms… Proper Nutrition, Proper Socialization, Adequate Shelter, Appropriate Veterinary Care and the Ability to exhibit normal behavior.
