The Eatonia Wheat Kings, along with the rest of the Fertile Valley Baseball League, are curious about what the government will announce for restrictions on baseball being played this season which is set for April 12. Kiley Swan, with the Wheat Kings, says he is optimistic there will be ball this year, and also talked about the progress of the new ball diamond being constructed on the west side of the west central town.

Swan shared that they have made some progress on the new diamond, however, the recent wind that tore through the region did cause some damage that will now need fixing.

“We had the dugouts done and everything was good, then with the windstorm last week it blew one of the dugouts away. Kind of two steps forward, one step back. We are just waiting to hear back from insurance on replacing them - but we are planning to get some shale into the diamonds this week".

Swan was also quick to point out if there is a season this year, the ball diamond will be ready to go. Also, the team will be playing out of the west central town in the 2021 season and beyond.
