A brand new month has officially started now that November is finally here. During the 30 days of November, there is awareness being spread about Alzheimer Disease across the country.

Alzheimer's disease is irreversible and destroys brain cells, causing thinking ability and memory to deteriorate. Alzheimer's disease is not a normal part of aging.

For seniors that are 65 and older, it is very common in all parts of the world. On average, every 1 in 10 seniors will have Alzheimer's disease. It is more rare to have Alzheimer's when under the age of 65, and only calculates for a very small percentage of Canadians.

It is more common for a senior women to have Alzheimer's than it is for a senior man. According to stats, every two out of three seniors with Alzheimer's is a women.

Signs and symptoms of the disease include: memory loss, difficulty performing familiar tasks, problems with languages, poor judgement and loss of initiative.
