Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe shared kind words for his next Manitoba counterpart on social media Tuesday night after Wab Kinew's NDP government captured a majority government.

Moe congratulated Kinew on a "hard-fought election victory" and said he looks forward to "continuing the collaboration between our two provinces as we address the challenges facing western Canada."

He also thanked outgoing Premier Heather Stefanson, who also stepped down as leader of the Manitoba Progressive Conservatives, for her friendship and service to Manitoba and Canada.

Kinew made history, becoming the first Indigenous provincial premier in Canada.
