The minimum wage in Saskatchewan increased on October 1st from $10.72/hr to $10.96/hr.

It was announced earlier this year in June that the minimum wage was going to increase slightly. This will help out members in the province who work small-earning jobs, and create more of a balanced income in their wallets going forward.

Ever since June of 2010, the government created a solution by introducing minimum wages in June, and then either approving or declining them in the month of October. This is another year where the wage was allowed to be increased.

Since the year of 2007, there has been 10 increases of minimum wage. During 2007, the minimum wage was only $7.95/hr.

There are a lot of students that work low-paying jobs that are appreciating the small increase to help pay for textbooks, and living expenses. It's expected that over 50,000 workers in the province will benefit somewhat from this increase and about one-third of the workers happen to be students.

It's expected that the wage will continue to go up in low increments, but will make a big difference when portrayed through a big picture.
