The Orange Memories Care Home in Rosetown had a special visitor for St. Patrick's Day yesterday, as country music group out of the Wiseton area the McConnells, brought their country and Irish sound to the care home.

Judy McConnell, along with husband Malcolm, took to the stage yesterday. She was more than happy to brighten the resident's day.

“We played a few Irish tunes and a few non-Irish tunes and just got some toes tapping and some smiles happening and it was nice. We can actually see their smiles now because they don't have to wear masks and it was awesome. We had a couple of songs they knew they sang along with us and so, it was great and good fun,” McConnell said.

As for plans moving forward, the group has a couple of shows lined up, but are hoping for a busy summer.

“We're playing in Dinsmore for the Gaiety group in the first part of April, and then we're in Saskatoon at a senior home in mid-April. So, right now that's all we have booked, but I think things will start picking up and we're hoping so anyway, we enjoy playing. We're hoping people are ready to listen to some live music and we get some fundraising groups that want to do some fundraising involving live music. We're hoping we get to be involved in some of that. We've been involved with the Lions and the age-friendly groups in Rosetown previously so, we're hoping that happens again and just some live music would be nice for people to hear,” McConnell added.

This is the second time the McConnells have played at the Orange Memories Care Home in Rosetown, as they were at the care home back in August of 2021.
