Week 3 of high school football is here for West Central teams.

It started off yesterday with Eatonia hosting Macklin, as the Spartans unfortunately couldn't get the win in front of their home crowd losing 20-14. The action will continue today as Rosetown hosts Clavet at 2:00 for an early start, and then Outlook hosts Biggar as well after school. Then in Kindersley with it being Goose Festival, they are playing host to Kerrobert tomorrow afternoon for a special weekend matinee.

Looking at two games specifically, not only is the Goose Festival game going to be a special one in West Central. Rosetown Central High School students are getting out of class early to watch their game.

They aren't the only ones, as Rosetown Royals coach Mitch Wintonyk helped explain the fanfare they are bringing into the team's home opener.

"We've got the elementary school in town coming, and we will let our students out early. Then Elrose, just the high school kids are going to get bussed in and watch the game."

Students from Elrose will get to make the trip because five of the Royals players this year hail from the nearby West Central town. The team won their last game over Plenty, and will look to add another win this season against Clavet.

Kindersley Kobras football team moves into new clubhouse

As for the other game mentioned, the Kindersley Kobras are hosting the Kerrobert Rebels in a Saturday afternoon matchup following the parade. The story above details the Kobras moving into their new clubhouse in anticipation of the weekend game, as they are coming off a bye week after winning their first game of the season against Macklin.

A story also came out on Kerrobert yesterday about the grand opening of their Friday Night Lights project in town, as we talked to head coach of the Kobras opponent tomorrow Troy Snider.

"We're excited to be in Kindersley this weekend for the Goose Festival," said Snider, "(Kindersley) is always strong and well coached, and we are ready for a real good battle on Saturday afternoon."

The Rebels are 2-0 to begin their season, as Snider shared details on a slim win to start the year Unity, and then a terrific performance from his team under the lights last Friday.
