Today is the day where two local businessmen will take on challenges in the wild as part of a STARS fundraiser.

Grant McGrath and Garth MacDonald are participating in a STARS fundraiser named "Rescue on the Prairie" today. Both McGrath and MacDonald, along with 3 other community leaders from their respective areas, will be dropped off by a helicopter to a remote prairie location.

From there, the 5 people participating will compete in challenges to earn more money towards their fundraising totals. The catch for the challenges is they will have nothing but their cell phones to help them win challenges. The sooner they win a challenge and have reached their fundraising total, the faster they will be rescued by the STARS chopper.

"Obviously I'm taking it lightly and I just want to enjoy this experience," said McGrath, speaking about his thoughts heading into the challenges. "Going up in a helicopter is great, and some people donating said they would donate more if they would just leave me out in the woods."

McGrath and MacDonald have known each other for years as well. Participating in the challenges against each other will undoubtedly add to the experience.

"Garth is one of the business leaders [in west central Saskatchewan], and he means a lot to his communities as they do with him," mentioned McGrath. "I'm just trying to do my part of raising money, and being able to do it side-by-side with Garth is really great."

All the participants are attempting to raise a total of $50,000 each for a grand fundraising total of $250,000. As of today, MacDonald and McGrath have managed to reach their set goals. So their time spent in the Saskatchewan wilderness may not be long after they complete challenges for the fundraiser.
