Kindersley native, and Jr. Klippers forward Jaxon Georget was chosen as Kindersley’s nominee for the RBC Community Ambassador Award. The title comes with $1000 from RBC to donate within the community, and Georget chose Westberry Elementary School and it’s playground project.

The second year Klipper has enjoyed the opportunity to play out of his hometown, and knew this was the perfect opportunity to give back. Georget was given the nomination in the first place because of his community work. These volunteer opportunities include helping out with hockey practices in the west central area, and even getting out on the streets to clear out snow after some huge snowfalls this past winter. One of the Klippers most memorable volunteer events is serving kids in school a pancake breakfast, fittingly at Westberry.

Principal of Westberry Elementary Chris Oscar is honoured that they were chosen, and had some good things to say about the local.

“Jaxon and his family have been that way as long as I have known them. I’m not surprised that he was the recipient, and as I said I’m quite grateful for the fact he chose us to donate the money.” he said, “Westberry School is very happy to receive such funds.”

The principal knows the gesture speaks to Georget’s sense of community, and that the Klippers organization can be thanked as well as they are the ones that promote those ideals.

The $1000 donation is set for improvements to the schools playground. Outdoor class and recreation equipment are the main ideas for the money early into the process, both well-needed things according to the principal.

Oscar thanked the player, the Klippers, and RBC for the gesture.
