The Town of Kindersley is asking residents to assure that they are being diligent when using the town's blue recycle bins. In the latest town e-update, it was shown that vast amounts of non-recyclable items were found in the blue bins. According to the town, loads with this level of contamination cause the entire load to be deemed un-recyclable and are then turned to the waste stream. Many residents take time to do appropriate recycling and those that place waste in the blue bin cause all bins on that run to be deemed waste. It is important to note, that it is an offence to place non-recyclable items in your blue bin.

The latest complaint comes after a pick-up from the D2 zone in Kindersley, when some of the items found included a suitcase, shovel, and a discarded deer head. Also found were running shoes, and plastic bags. D2 includes Prairie Winds Estates trailer court, 2nd Avenue West and the 7th Street area.

Acceptable items include cardboard, household aluminum and tin, mixed paper like magazines, and #1-7 plastics.
