Wednesday night's game against the Estevan Bruins is one that the Kindersley Jr. Klippers are going to want back. The Klippers were coming in on a three game winning streak five nights of rest, the Bruins were on a two game winning streak and a five game point streak but didn't have a full day's rest from their last game, but neither team seemed to have much jump as the Bruins won 5-2.

In the start of the period, the Klippers looked a little slow as they figured out their new opponent. There was just one line for either team that was firing on all cylinders the entire game, and that was the Bruins line of Keagon Little, Mark Rumsey, and Olivier Pouliot. All three got a point on the opening goal four minutes in when Pouliot's shot was kicked out into the middle for Little to put into the open net.

After that, the Klippers got a bit of a spark when they killed off a penalty close to the halfway mark of the period after the captain Mark Snarr was nabbed on an odd holding call, and soon after they got their first man advantage. While they didn't generate much offence on that powerplay, the Klippers tired out the group on the ice and shortly after the man afvantage, Jack Michell found Charles Obobaifo up ice behind a changing Bruins defence and Obobaifo was able to score on the backhand on the breakaway.

The Klippers were given another man advantage shortly after the goal and this went the exact opposite. They generated four shots, all stopped by Cam Hrdlicka in net, and once Alex Von Spreckon stepped out of the box, Little sprung him on a breakaway of his own where he blew the wrist shot past Pesenti's blocker.

At the end of the period, Ethan King was called on a cross check that looked like it was going to give the Bruins a powerplay, but before the whistle was blown Antoine St. Onge collided with a Klipper behind the play and the offsetting penalties meant the second would start 4-on-4.

After 1: Klippers 1 - 2 Bruins, shots 12-7 Bruins

Despite both teams being fast and skilled, the Klippers seemed to get a bit of an advantage in the first two minutes of the period with the 4-on-4 situation, but the game would see a change to the score until the penalties ended. Under six minutes in, the Pouliot-Rumsey-Little line stuck again when Pouliot sent the puck out of the corner to Rumsey alone in the slot, and he stood there for about two seconds below the hashmarks before taking the shot that beat Pesenti's glove.

A couple more powerplays were given to the Klippers through the middle of the second period, but they still couldn't create much offence. What it did do was keep the Bruins in their own zone and unable to put shots on, and at one point late in the period the shots were 7-5 Bruins.

Once their penalty troubles topped, the Bruins poured on the pressure and the shots jumped to 14-5 in the period, and they added another one to the score as well. Puck dumped into the corner, Bruins captain Eric Houck went crashing into the corner and tapped the puck over to Caelan Fitzpatrick, and with one hand on the puck he held it on the backhand to walk out front before he put his second hand on his stick and fired to Pesenti wide side.

After 2: Klippers 1 - 4 Bruins, shots 14-5 Bruins in the period, 26-12 Bruins Overall

The third period was a bit of a stinker overall. It looked like tensions were rising at the end of the second period after a big hit from Ethan Ironside and an interference call he was given shortly after, and even though the Bruins started the period with the man advantage, they still didn't generate much. Pesenti made another highlight reel save with a big glove stop on a onetimer from the slot to keep his team in it, but instead of firing up the bench he only seemed to get a few stick taps from the bench and that's about it.

Three players left the ice for the Klippers over the course of the period. Cash Arnsten limped off the ice in the middle of the play after a blocked shot, and Charles Obobaifo and defenceman Brenden Lee left quietly, meaning the Klippers would finish the game down two forwards and a defenceman in a game where they were already shuffling line combinations.

With just over three minutes left, Coletyn Boyarski scored his first of the season as a Klipper when he crashed the net and swatted the puck through the armpit of Hrdlicka in net with Mazzocchi earning the assist, and this did spark the Klippers. Now down by two with three minutes left, they started to press hard.

The Klippers got a powerplay with two minutes left after Ethan King took a head hit from Mark Rumsey, and so the Klippers pulled their goalie for the 6-on-4. King almost made the Bruins pay for the hit when he wired a onetimer past Hrdlicka but he hit the opposite side post, and the Bruins took it the other way where Cody Davis put the empty netter to seal the deal.

FINAL: Klippers 2 - 5 Bruins, shots 13-5 Bruins in the period, 39-17 overall

The Klippers are now getting set for a weekend road trip that starts off with the La Ronge Ice Wolves on Friday, and then back to Nipawin Saturday to play the Hawks for the third time in nine days.
