Kindersley resident Audrey Heit will receive the Saskatchewan Volunteer Medal for all she does to improve the community. Heit is a retired special care aide who has lived in Kindersley for over 44 years, and she spoke about the importance of volunteering and receiving the medal after hearing the news.

"Without her we would be lost," President of the Kindersley Food Bank Linda Resch said. "She's always busy volunteering everywhere so she deserves it."
Heit also was named Kindersley’s Citizen of the Year at the 2016 KBEX Awards.
Heit is one of 10 volunteers who will recieve the medal at a ceremony in Regina during National Volunteer Week, which runs from April 15-21 this year.
