Kindersley Minor Soccer is gearing up for a big season on the pitch. Janelle Layton, President of Kindersley Minor Soccer, told West Central Online that around 230 kids have registered for this upcoming season. A couple teams in Eatonia have joined this year, and kids have signed up from all over the surrounding communities to play.

Janelle also noted the soccer association is fundraising like crazy to build a new pitch for the community. She stated it's a large partnership between the Sun West School Division, the Town of Kindersley and the Kindersley Soccer Association. A quote of $86,000 has been given to the Soccer Association to build the new pitch. Mrs. Layton also noted there has been a large outpouring of support both in volunteer time and financially from the business community. Construction on the new pitch is slated to begin in July once school is out and it hinges partially on the Town of Kindersley being able to come good on their previous commitments.

She also noted that they share they same space with minor ball and between the two organiztions over 400 kids share the same space which is tricky at best.

There is also an adult drop in league which is co-ed and open to anyone and everyone.

This year, Kindersley is hosting a "Red-Eye" tournament. The tourney goes 24 hours a day with games being played under the lights, which is slated for the 18th and 19th of June. The U of R band is coming out to provide music for the event.

There is also a girls team in Kindersley, a U-14 and U-16 combined team that will play games all across Saskatchewan.
