Junior golfers competed from July 9 to July 11 to become Golf Saskatchewan’s new junior champions at Nipawin’s Evergreen Golf Course.

Jace Carlisle, a 17 year old from Estevan, won the Junior Men’s Championship with a 221 stroke total.

Carlisle will lead Team Saskatchewan in the Canadian Junior Boy’s Championship in August at Hartland, New Brunswick. Joining him will be Steven Duchsher from Saskatoon, who finished second, and our very own Kindersley locals Cort Tunall, who took third, and Brody Istace, who will be Saskatchewan’s alternate.

Tunall and Istace tied for third in the competition after both making 228 a stroke total. Tunall in round one had a total of 78, made a 76 in round two, and took his best in round three with a total of 74. Istace started with a 75 in round one, made up round two with a 78, and ended back at a 75 in the third round. 

Another Kindersley local, Kyler Cote, made an appearance in the championship but ultimately tied for 16th place after ending the tournament with 245 strokes.

As for the Junior Women’s Championship, 15 year old Autumn Neiszner of Regina won the championship with her 54-hole score of 230 strokes.

Neiszner will represent Team Saskatchewan in Lethbridge along with Lauren Fox of Creighton, Brooklin Fry of Shell Lake, and Ella Kozak of Yorkton.
