The fire season has been an average one for the Kindersley Fire Department.

Chief Ron Hope commented on the summer fire season in the Kindersley area.

"It's been about average, about the same as it usually is. For whatever reason we tend our season we tend to see  a few more grass fires that seem to happen later in the fall."

Chief Hope said the season is not over yet, as harvest if going on,with people still combining in the area.

"We're not through this yet, he said. There is still some crop out there. Hopefully things will run smooth, and later in October and November maybe we will see the snow on the ground, and will settle things down for us."

It is also very important to keep a fire extinguisher in the combine,  and also having a leaf blower to get the dust cleaned up is also another nice little addition to keep the risk of a combine fire down.

The Kindersley Fire Department also held a special training course this past weekend, to give new members an opportunity to learn about car technology, and the techniques behind performing safe and efficient extractions, and it was a refresher for those who have been with the fire department for a while.

Chief Ron Hope talked about the training course.

"It's important for  the members understand where things are located, where they can cut, and where they cannot cut, what to look for to do extrications in a safe matter."

You can head to the Kindersley Fire Facebook page for a demonstration of the extrication course held this past weekend.
