Beechy and Eston are the locations for this years West Central Junior District Volleyball Championships. The boys are competing in Eston while the girls are in Beechy, after qualifying for the end of season tournament last week in sectionals.

In Beechy the first game goes on 10:00 am Saturday, with the final set for 5:00 pm. Beechy, Rosetown,  Loreburn, and Kindersley will be the teams in action. The boys will see host Eston joined by Biggar St. Gabriel, Loreburn who is joined with Kenaston, and finally Dinsmore who won their sectionals last week against Lucky Lake to clinch a spot in the tournament.

“It’s been great,” said Dinsmore Composite School volleyball coach Chelsea Billett on the return to normal competition this year, “It’s been nice to have people back in our building. It’s been nice to see the players on the court, and a little bit of life back in our school.”

Billett shared that districts is the end of the road in the junior ranks, and that Dinsmore’s girls team was unable to move on after finishing behind Beechy in sectionals.

Billett is most involved with the senior girls team in Dinsmore, as aside from the Jr. Boys, the school’s senior teams still have a chance to prolong their season as they enter November. Dinsmore will be in Wilkie when it comes to the Sr. Boys bracket, while Billett and the Sr. Girls will look to perform in Elrose for a chance to move on to the eventual provincial championship in Loreburn.

Looking at the dates for the upcoming volleyball action for west central schools, Sr. Girls’ Conferences will be held on November 5/6th, Regionals on November 12/13th, while Provincials are set for November 19/20th. 1-2A Boys’ Conferences are being held Saturday, November 13th, Regionals on November 19/20th, and then finally Sr. Boys Provincials on November 26/27th.

Once the district champions are crowned this weekend, the senior action will begin to provide an exciting end to the volleyball season all throughout November.
