The Kindersley Jr. Klippers and Melfort Mustangs played their second game against each other in 2022-23. And for the second time, Kindersley came out on top.

The Mustangs got on the board first on a goal by Clarke Huxley on the powerplay, his 11th of the season. But Kindersley answered back with it's first of 5 straight goals, as Kayden Ostrom finished off a 3-on-1 break with veterans Matt Mazzocchi and Aidan Bangs late in the opening period.

Kindersley kept coming in the second, with Ostrom walking in the right wing and beating James Venne on a perfect shot, to give the Klippers the lead. The goals were Ostrom's 7th and 8th of the season.

Kindersley kept the pedal to the medal, and it was Tylin Hilbig this time scoring just over a minute later, on a nice setup pass from Danton Cox for his 12th of the season.

The Klippers then got a fourth goal on the evening on a scramble in front of the net, which was put in by Cash Arntsen for his 8th of the season. The assists went to linemates Linklater and Hilbig who had strong games for the Klippers.

Kindersley iced the game away about halfway through the third period, with Logan Linklater poking in a rebound of his own shot for his 5th of the season, and 18th point, in just 15 games for his hometown Klippers.

The Mustangs got a garbage time goal by Ty Thornton late, and then pulled their goaltender. But Kindersley survived the Melfort onslaught with good defense and great goaltending from Logan Falk. The Klippers held on for the 5-2 victory.

Not only was the line of Linklater, Hilbig and Arntsen good, the line of Ostrom, Bangs and Mazzocchi was also on strong on this night.

Kyler Smith played an excellent game on the point, and the defense played one of their stronger games of the season, boxing Mustangs players out of the way of goaltender Falk.

Kindersley will start a home and home with division rival Humboldt this Friday at home, and return to EPA in Humboldt for the rematch Saturday night. Both games are at 7:30 pm.
