The Kindersley Jr. Klippers finally were rewarded for all of the hard work early this season with a comeback 5-3 victory over the Humboldt Broncos Friday night at the WCEC. Kindersley fell behind 1-0 in the first period on a nice setup by Timothy Kim to Alec Saretzky for an easy tap in goal.

The second period started off well for the home team, as newcomer Logan Cox paid immediate dividends, scoring at the 4:17 mark to tie the score. Kindersley played the early part of the period very well, actually taking the play to the Broncos outshooting them early on. But Humboldt found their legs in the second half of the period and regained the lead on a goal over the shoulder Cody Jaman by Xavier Roy. Timothy Kim, who was a force in this game all night long, got his second assist of the evening.

The Broncos doubled their lead just under three minutes later, with Jacob Boucher finding a loose puck and putting it past Jaman. The assists went to Cage Newans and Lucas Ceccarelli. Humboldt had 23 shots in the second, but Kindersley countered with 18, to make the shots 38-25 Broncos after two.

The third period was easily the best period the Klippers have played all season. Rosetown native Kayden Ostrom got Kindersley within one on a nice tip on a shot from defenseman Liam Bell, who was splendid in this game in both the offensive and defensive zone. The other assist went to Nathan DeGraves. Then exactly two minutes later Kindersley tied it, as Spencer Paplawski capitalized on a giveaway by Broncos Tristan Serrao as he fell down, giving Paplawski on 1-on-1 with goaltender Tristan Boileau, and he beat him over the left shoulder.

The Klippers kept coming and got the game winner Cash Arntsen on a nice pass by Logan Cox. The Klippers held on and ice the game with a Spencer Paplawski empty netter to take the two-goal victory. Cody Jaman was spectacular in this game making a save on a breakaway by Jacob Boucher when it was still 3-1 to keep things close. Jaman made 46 saves for his second victory in the SJHL.  Listen to my full interview with Arntsen below.
