The Kindersley Jr. Klippers are a young team. The team only had three 20 year old players on the roster, that saw their Junior A career end in poor fashion. Eric Sorensen, Kyle Ford, and Kerrobert native and team captain Brett Neumeier were given a special thank you by the team.

As our season draws to an unfortunate end, we would like to thank our 3 20 year olds, Kyle Ford, Brett Neumeier, and Eric Sorensen for the hard work and commitment they have given the Klippers during their time in Kindersley, we wish them all the best in their future endeavours, both in hockey and in life, thank you! -Klippers Hockey

Out of the three players, only one player has a commitment lined up for next season. Eric Sorensen will be attending Red Deer College.

As for the others, Klippers head coach Ken Plaquin doesn’t envy their position one bit. Losing your 20 year old season is something that would be unfathomable for the coach.

“I hope it never happens to anyone ever again” said the coach.

These players now face a decision on their future. Normally, a full season would have went by for college scouts to watch players like Ford and Neumeier, to figure out where they might fit on the roster.

“It’s a big decision anyways what you’re going to do when you’re done junior, but to have your last season stolen from you, when your not sure where you fit it just makes things that much more difficult” explained the coach.

Plaquin knows some players will decide they don’t need hockey and will carry on fine in their future, but that doesn’t take from the fact that some players were likely left no option.

It is an adult decision for one to decide whether or not their hockey career is over. In Ford’s case and especially Neumeier’s, there are multiple cards to play and it is up to the player to figure out the best path for themselves.

News from the pair will likely come soon, and we would like to join the Klippers in thanking these three players for their time in Klipper green!
