With some solid pieces in place from last year up front, including forwards Brock Evans and Casey Brown, the Kindersley Jr. Klippers added some defenders, along with some players up front, in the 2023 SJHL draft.

The Klippers had the second overall pick in the draft, and wasted no time filling one of the vacant positions on the point from trades earlier on Thursday. They picked up Jaxon Herchak from the U18 AAA Warman Wildcats.

The 2007 born rear guard had a solid season for the Wildcats in 2022-23, collecting 22 points in 38 games. He also had 8 points in 8 games for Warman during their playoff run.

Klippers Head Coach & GM Clayton Jardine then picked up a local product with his first pick in the second round, selecting Pryce Thiessen. The hard nosed forward had 9 goals and 15 points, along with 74 PIM for the U18 AAA Tisdale Trojans last season.

Later on in the second round, the Klippers selected defenseman Brady Simpson from Swift Current. The defender played with the Swift Current AA Broncos last season.

Then in the third round, Kindersley went to the crease and selected Vawn native Brady Carr, who played with the U18 AAA Battlefords Stars in 2022-23. Also in round three the team went to nearby Edam, and selected Carter Cole, who played with the U18 AAA Prince Albert Mintos. And wrapping up a busy third round, the Klippers selected defenseman Kai Packet from Swift Current, who also played with the AA Broncos.

In round four, Kindersley picked up forward Jonah Penil from Pilot Butte. The forward played the 2022-23 season with the U18 AAA Moose Jaw Warriors.

The Klippers then went local once again, and in the fifth round they selected forward Cooper Flath, who hails from Dinsmore. Flath put up 10 goals and 33 points in 36 games for the Swift Current AA Broncos last season.

And with their final selection in the draft, the team picked up defenseman Fynn Harasymchuk, who played with the Saskatoon AA Riverkings last season.
