The downward trend in oil and gas commodities have much of the Saskatchewan economy erring on the side of caution when it comes to job security.

Alastair MacFadden, Assistant Deputy for labor market development in the ministry of the economy of Jobs in West Central Saskatchewan sees the potential in the Rosetown, Elrose and Kindersley area, despite the low numbers of employment in the last year.  Overall, job prospects in the West Central region in Saskatchewan have increased from where they were five years ago, leaving the province with a positive feeling when it comes to job economy.

According to Statistics Canada, jobs in the Rosetown and Elrose area are calculated in with the Biggar-Saskatoon region, and are included in the overall economy increase.

When one looks at the job posting average in Kindersley, the average number has decreased by 15 percent since January.

Despite this fact, MacFadden affirms the positive trend will be long-term and continue to stabilize, despite the lower gas and oil prices.
