Hometown Harvest finishes strong with delivery to Weenk family

Harvest in the West Central area is nearing completion for 2022 and yesterday was the final stop of our Hometown Harvest. The 6th and last delivery made was out to the Weenk family who farm in the Dodsland area. Kevin Weenk, wife Jo, son Brett, daughter Lexus, uncle Dale Weenk and Lia Mcleod all enjoyed a nice break and Panago Pizza during some downtime with their flax too tough to harvest at the time.

The Weenks have harvested in the area for nearly 70 years and Kevin Weenk outlines what they enjoy best about it being a family operation.

"I would say we're always having fun. Having a laugh quite often and trying not to get too serious about it."

Its been a relatively quick and otherwise successful harvest with crops yielding well. Crops harvested by the Weenk's are: wheat, barley, canola, flax and lentils and are taken off by Case IH combines, a brand of machinery Weenk enjoys.

"I like the dealership network and the dealership support that I get from them."

With harvest wrapping up in the not too distant future, Weenk is thankful for the supporting cast he has surrounding him.

"All I can say is I couldn't have got this harvest done without the people working. The machines, they can't operate without people in them and I'm really grateful the people that have working for me and I'm really grateful for my wife, for all the support she gives me."
