What happens when you mix gear-heads and adrenaline junkies? A team of racers with the know-how and gumption to build and race cars with upwards of 4500 horsepower. Born and bred in Kindersley, The Good to Go Racing team is getting geared up to hit the dirt this weekend at the Dirt Drags Truck and Tractor Pulls.

Norm Neigum, Good to Go Racing team owner, and his son, Shayne, are no stranger to the dirt and engines as they started competing in mud bogs 26 years ago. Since that time they have worked their way up, building several cars, competing, learning a lot along the way and building their team to what it is today.

Horsepower isn’t the only driving force, the manpower required to be able to build these cars and also to troubleshoot any mechanical issues along the way is no small feat.

“These aren’t cars you can just go to the corner store for parts, there are a lot of specialized parts coming from the states and also a lot of knowledge backed by a lot of testing and science.” said Shayne.

The team is focused on coming out of the weekend with some big wins between the four cars they have entered to race. Although they are a highly competitive team with their eye on the prize, Shayne expressed that there are no words to describe the rush that happens when you get in and drive one of these cars.

He went on to say the mental preparedness that takes place is key, as their life is literally in their hands holding the steering wheel.

These cars are beasts and leave little to no room for error; In order to come out safe, and hopefully victorious, it’s imperative to stay calm and collected while also having the instinct and reaction time to navigate through any possible scenario on the track.

This is the fifth year of the races, last year the Good to Go Racing team finished with a win in the CMRO event and was a close but unsuccessful finish for Shayne in the shootout final, they will be looking to change that at this year’s event this weekend.
