Kindersley is in for a very exciting December, as the first ever Walk of Lights event gets started this Friday.

The Walk of Lights event is set up to lend some support to various non-profit organizations around the community, all while providing a fun winter event for families to enjoy. Being the first year this event is taking place, many people are excited to see it all come together. Everything is planned with the Kindersley & District Plains Museum as the host.

Anna Polsfut from the Kindersley Town Office, helped to explain one of the goals for the event, regarding the museum.

“We’re hoping that we can make the museum more of a community place. The museum has really been trying hard to update and modernize everything, and so we’re really looking forward to making the museum a family place, and a community area where not only the Walk of Lights, but maybe other events are hosted in the future.”

Anna’s colleague, Elyse Moss, shared how this event came to be.

“It kind of started with a discussion between Anna and myself, trying to find new and fun ways to get families together and get them enjoying the many facilities we have in the area. From there we just partnered with the Museum, and we decided for our first year that we would three days a week for the first three weekends of December, so that gives everybody a good chance to come out and check out the Lights.”

Many people in the community have given donations in the form of Christmas decorations to help get ready for the event. The Walk of Lights event is being held on December 6, 7, 8, December 13, 14, 15, and December 20, 21, 22 from 6pm-10pm.
