A pair of car shows were held in the west central region this past weekend.

Kindersley held a show and shine fundraiser in the mall parking lot with proceeds going towards the Junior Drag Club, and the KCS football team was in attendance as well with a concession to go towards their clubhouse project.

One prominently featured car had Kindersley’s Eric Schmidt and his family adorning his 1967 Mercury Comet Cyclone Convertible. Schmidt and his car have quite a bit of history.

The car pictured above was bought new from Tisdales back in the day before Schmidt was forced to sell. Many people have had the opportunity to purchase their dream car, but not many have the chance to do it twice. Schmidt was in the market for a similar car just a few years ago, and with a stroke of luck he was re-introduced to his exact car after a mention from family of a similar car from down the street. More details are available perhaps for another time, but a great story and cruiser like this is what makes car shows so special.

In Rosetown it was the Dusty Wheels Auto Club’s 30th annual Road Kill Cruise, and Barry Churchman with the club says it went just about as good as planned.

“Had a good turnout, probably the second biggest number of cars we’ve ever had,” said Churchman, “Good crowd coming and going, and some real good cars with guys we haven’t seen before.”
