With the current blizzard going on, a number of local RCMP detachments have issued statements recommending people stay home or at their business rather than driving on the highways.

The Unity RCMP issued a statement themselves this afternoon along with a release from the provincial RCMP, both advising against travel.

One listener text in this morning saying that they were stuck on the road near Springfield colony, and it took the listener over two hours to be rescued by a tractor and make it back home to Coleville. Part of what made the rescue effort so difficult was the fact that the visibility was so bad that they had lost track of where they were by a mile.

No significant damages have been reported around West Central Saskatchewan at the time of this update, but conditions are still terrible around the area. If there is anything that could serve as a danger to the public or an accident in the area, text 306-463-4649 and the West Central Online news room should be able to report later today.
