Students of all ages returned to the classroom this morning all over the west central region, and we were lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the back to school atmosphere here in Kindersley at Westberry Elementary, Elizabeth Middle, and Kindersley Composite School.

A few parents were early to the front doors at Westberry to send their kids off to school before any of the buses arrived, on what is surely a very exciting and nerve-wracking day for young kids.

“I’m not crying because I am sad, I’m just excited,” said one child tearfully walking to school with a parent.

Over at Elizabeth, new vice-principal Emily Knowles was working the crosswalk to help welcome kids on the first day, and around the back of the school, some of the older kids and their teachers formed cohorts and caught up after their summer vacation.

Then just a short walk away at the high school, students were still filing into the building just before 9 am. KCS also has a new vice-principal in Danielle Jamieson, who noted a nervous/excited energy from the children arriving at school, coupled with some struggles in direction thanks to the new guidelines present from Sun West to ensure a safe return to school.
