The daily case numbers for COVID-19 in other parts of Canada were the lowest they had been in months today, and Saskatchewan faced a similarly good day on that front. Deaths and hospitalizations have not yet caught up, however.

The Saskatchewan Health Authority announced today four more patients who tested positive for COVID-19 have died. One death was reported in the 80+ age group in the North Central Zone, one death was reported in the 70 to 79 age group in the North East zone, one death was reported in the 60 to 69 age group in Saskatoon, and one death was reported in the 50 to 59 age group in the South East zone.

There were just 47 new cases of the virus reported today, however, for a provincial total of 48,043. The SHA also reported 95 additional recoveries for a total of 46,761. There are 722 active cases of the virus right now, with 97 people hospitalized. The seven-day average of daily new cases is 70, the lowest that number has been since November 1.

Today's new cases are located in the following zones: Far North West, 2; Far North East, 1; North West, 6; North Central, 3; North East, 1; Saskatoon, 12; Central West, 3; Central East, 2; Regina, 14; South Central, 1; and South East, 1. There is one more case with pending residence information.

Yesterday, the SHA processed 1,478 COVID-19 tests. They also administered 6,880 doses of COVID-19 vaccine for a total of 910,322. There are still 69 percent of the population age 18 or older who have had their first shot and 67 percent of those 12 and over.
